Many photographers are obsessed with street photography nowadays. I doubt all of them are really interested in it and inspired by it. This type of photography is to document the face of modern society as I understand, us and things that surround us, and as it can often be seen such photos are dedicated to graphical things like contrast of volumes, rhythms and other little things that can please our eye BUT initial aim is forgotten. These photographs look good, look great but they do not tell us much about our society. If someone sees this type of photo in the future, in 200 years, for example, he wouldn’t be able to understand the spirit of our time, and that is a fail.
I get sick when I hear about Cartier-Bresson again and again, people OFTEN say he inspires them. But are his photos so inspirational indeed? Well, yes…
