If we’re old enough, we all know where we were, and what we were doing, on September 11, 2001.  It’s etched in our brains, even if we weren’t at Ground Zero or remotely close to New York.  I was in Vegas, having just arrived here 10 days earlier on a plane from Boston.  I was starting a new life with my first husband, whose morbid obesity left him unemployed and unable to venture out of the house for three months of the year due to snowy and icy New England climate.  We came to Vegas to start fresh, to give him a chance to get healthy and begin truly living again.

I was getting ready for a job interview at a Business Bank of Nevada that morning.  I heard my first husband yell from the bedroom that someone had flown a plane into the World Trade Center, and I scoffed…
