It’s hard not to like Brigitte Bardot, or at least Brigitte Bardot as she was in the past. She radiated sex appeal, and was considered a liberated woman for her time.
Bardot was a style icon as well, one of the first to popularize bikinis, as well as fashions that marked her as something in between a girl and a married woman.
The problem is that what I’ve heard about her recently is, quite frankly, incredibly disturbing. In the late nineties, she made a number of comments opposing integration, focusing largely on how Muslims are ruining France. Part of her gripe is with with the slaughter of sheep on Eid, and I can get behind the idea of ritual animal killing being outdated these days, but she went on to make much more offensive comments.
